This is an independent informational website about services for children and families in Hernando County, Florida.

What this site is

A plain-language reference, written to explain how Florida's family programs work and where the official sources are. It is aimed at parents, kinship caregivers, and the staff and volunteers who help them.

What this site is not

It is not a government agency, a nonprofit, a charity or a service provider. It does not collect donations, hold membership, or represent any coalition. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a continuation of any organisation that previously used this domain name, and it makes no claim to their history, materials or identity. Any reference to a public agency or program is descriptive only.

How pages are written

Pages describe how programs work in general terms and direct readers to the official source for current detail — statute text to the Florida Legislature, benefits to the Department of Children and Families, coverage to Florida KidCare, and live referrals to 211. We deliberately avoid publishing local phone numbers, addresses and opening hours, because that information goes stale quickly and stale information sends families to closed doors.
